The ballot for the 2010 Meredith Music Festival opened this morning, with subscribers putting their names in for tickets to the upcoming rural music event. The festival is from the 10th – 12th of December, and takes place at Nolan Farm in Victoria. For more info head to the MMF website here.

American psych-rockers The Dandy Warhols are playing their only Australian headline show in Tasmania. Yes, you read correctly. Tassie. The band were last in the Apple Isle for the ’05 Falls Festival (which I was at!). They’re also performing at Parklife. Melbourne band Tic Toc Tokyo have decided to hang up the instruments. The band, a favourite in the Melbourne live scene, only released two recordings; 2008’s Artefacts, and this year’s Lands.

Australian film and music distributor Shock has been acquired by backenders Regency Media (heavily involved in the production of CDs and DVDs). The acquisition makes Shock/Regency the biggest independent entertainment conglomerate in Australia.
